The Musical Language of the Church
Gregorian chant is the musical language of the Church — a “treasure of inestimable value,” as the Second Vatican Council called it. In 1974, Pope Paul VI released Jubilate Deo, a small collection of essential chants intended to be the “minimum repertoire” known by Catholics throughout the world.
In the letter accompanying the booklet, he wrote that these chants would help Christians achieve “unity and spiritual harmony… with the living traditions of the past.”
These chants are more than music. They are prayer — prayed by countless saints across centuries. As you learn them, you enter more deeply into the worship, beauty, and doctrine of the Church herself.

Meet Floriani
Giorgio Navarini
Giorgio’s love for sacred music began in high school when his family began attending the traditional Latin mass. This love for the ancient beauty continued through high school even into college where began directing choirs. Having graduated from Thomas Aquinas College, he taught in classical education schools aiming to embody choral excellence in the holistic formation of the human person. Whenever he is not directing a schola, you might find him hiking the mountains of Montana or enveloped in the historical account of a sea voyageur.
Graham Crawley
Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, Graham grew up with a love for singing and music, but wasn’t introduced to choral music until he was a freshman at Thomas Aquinas College. He was captivated by the profound spirituality of sacred music, and his love for it grew exponentially the more he immersed himself in the Roman liturgy. He is particularly fond of Gregorian chant, and has a special devotion to the Monastic Office. When he’s not singing, you’ll find Graham with his wife, Sarah, chasing his two sons around, reading, watching soccer, cooking, and hiking.
Thomas Quackenbush
Growing up in Ojai, California, Thomas first discovered sacred music singing hymns with his family. Although his first love was Baseball, his passion for choral singing grew in high school, at Thomas Aquinas College, and as a high school science and music teacher (and Baseball coach!). Thomas now lives in Steubenville, Ohio, with his wife Rebecca and their five children—four girls and one boy. When he’s not on the road with Floriani, Thomas teaches chant at Franciscan University, helps Rebecca homeschool the kids, and is trying to learn how to fix up a 130 year old home.
Lee Rea
Lee is a Southern California local, born and raised in Ventura, where he currently lives with his wife and newborn daughter! As an avid surfer, he thrives on physical exertion and the natural world. This love for God's creation was complimented and increased by a deep love for Truth, Goodness and Beauty, acquired during his time at Thomas Aquinas College.
His first encounter with sacred music was during his 10th grade year at a small Catholic highschool St. Augustine Academy. He recalls that the choral polyphony "reached directly to his soul, and was an intimate encounter with Beauty like nothing before." He is honored and proud to be a member of Floriani, and firmly believes in the efficacy of beautiful sacred music, in the revitalization of Catholic Culture.
